When did my mother become selfish?

I am a grown woman, I have kids of my own.
My mother is selfish. If and when she actually calls me she only wants to talk about herself. If she asks how I am doing, or how her grandchildren are doing its only in casual conversation. As soon as I start to tell her something she will interrupt and change the subject to make it about her.
She kinda sucks at being a grandmother.
I actually get along better with my mother-in-law than I do my mother.
